AIM OF THE PROGRAMME

This programme is designed to introduce and explore the principles of good leadership and management practice. This course gives practising or potential first line managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing basic management skills and assisting participants in gaining the basic knowledge required at this level.

Explored the role and responsibilities of the first-line manager.Determined their strengths and areas for development as a supervisor.Identified management and leadership styles for effective practice.Developed effective communication skills examined the key components of performance management.Identified the principles of building and maintaining an effective team.Practised techniques of problem solving & decision-making.Identified key features of change management.

FORMAT OF THE PROGRAMME

The course comprises of a minimum of 5 modules chosen from a list of over 20 run on a one-day or two-day basis depending on the learning hours needed. This course is usually run over a 3-month period.

ASSEMENT OF THE DELEGATES

Successful delegates will be awarded a nationally recognised certificate from The Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM). In order to achieve this award, each delegate will be required to complete some work-based learning after each module and complete a work-based assignment of approx 1500-2000 words on an issue that would add value to the organisation. In most cases we have encouraged our clients to set a target for each delegate to increase sales, improve profitability or improve quality to an approx value of £2,000.00 within their work-based assignment recommendations, thus making this programme virtually self-sustaining.
