DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERS

FOR BLACK & ETHNIC MINORITY OFFICERS

A recent study carried out by the IDeA (Improvement & Development Agency for Local Government) found that Black & Ethnic Minority officers receive less promotion opportunities and less training & development opportunities than non-minority officers. Only a few organisations tackle this problem of under-representation proactively. Through The Lindsay Judge Connection Ltd we are able to help you become “one of the few”.

This Leadership programme aims to address the under-representation of Black & Ethnic Minority managers in local government. It is delivered using experienced Black trainers who have many years of management practice coupled with excellent training skills. They are able to both increase the student’s knowledge of management learning to successfully obtain the ILM level 3 Award in First-Line Management, but also give good, live examples of being a black/ethnic minority manager in a local authority setting today.

THE ILM LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FIRST-LINE MANAGEMENT

The ILM Level 3 Award in First-Line Management has been specially designed to give practising or aspiring first line managers a solid foundation in their formal development as a manager.
Whilst it is our intention to ensure that the programme is bespoke to the organisational needs, we feel it is appropriate to include some specific opportunity for delegates to discuss the challenges facing Black & Minority Officers in local government. There will be an opportunity for the group to discuss how they may influence their approach to management and also consider how staff’s perceptions may be influenced when they are managed by a Black & Ethnic Minority manager.
